What
is KYO & JITSU
In general terms Kyo relates to
emptiness (desiring a need) & Jitsu relates to fullness (filling
/compensating the need)
E.g. When your stomach feels empty (Kyo) you eat to satisfy and
fill your desire (Jitsu),
Kyo & Jitsu relate to Full or Empty
conditions, these conditions are perceived via touch during
treatment.
Like Yin & Yang they Co-exist with each other, if you find a
Jitsu point then somewhere else you will find a Kyo point.
The body will always try to maintain a balance,
if a Jitsu condition arises due to an energetic gathering of Qi
then a depletion (Kyo) of energy (Qi) manifests elsewhere. This
difference sets up a gradient of stress between the Kyo/Jitsu
points, by holding the two points a flow from the Jitsu to the
Kyo will be felt, this in its self is a partial treatment.
KYO
A Kyo condition is felt
as weakness, looseness of muscle, mild pain alleviated by
pressure, pale skin, cold skin, loss of muscle tone with lack of
resistance to pressure, the areas feel empty, slow to respond and
below surface
Kyo is a bit like water
flowing along a river bank, halfway along there is a break, the
water flows along until it reaches the break and then disappears
into the break away from its natural course, only when the break
is filled or strengthened can the flow (QI) continue .
Dispersal of a Kyo condition will only make
it weaker, Kyo needs to be supported by strength (direct pressure).
Holding a Jitsu area with one hand whilst
the other is held over the Kyo area speeds up the process of
refilling the Kyo area.
JITSU
A Jitsu condition is
felt as a hardness, swelling, stiffness, pain on pressure, there
may be redness, stagnation of QI causes stiffness or
an inability for the QI to move which could to be localized like
a gathering of energy at one point.
Excess Jitsu (yang heat) or Excess Kyo (yin
cold) leads to cramp, ticklish spots, protrusions ,immediate
response or high resistance to pressure.
Jitsu is a bit like a
path with a locked gate Half way along it, you can walk to the
gate however it is difficult to continue your walk to the
other side if you do not have the key, the harder you push the
gate the more the gate resists. Only by gently unlocking or
dismantling (dispersing) the gate can your walk (QI) continue,
breaking the gate with force will cause permanent damage, (if you
force a Jitsu point with too much pressure it will become even
more Jitsu and unnecessary pain results for the client, just
supporting with the warmth from your hand is sufficient).
Holding a Kyo area with one hand whilst the other is held over the Jitsu area speeds up the process of emptying the Jitsu area.
KYO & JITSU in Treatment
Hara is a quick and
accurate guide to treatment, so are the Yu & Bo points, so
even just by finding / working the most Kyo & most Jitsu
points an effective start in the priority of treatment can begin.
Many postural
differences are due to Kyo & Jitsu imbalances, i.e. upper
body stronger than lower half, uneven left & right sides of
the body, shoulders backwards or forwards, hands or feet turned
in or out, so even by visually observing a person reveals a lot
about their Kyo/Jitsu condition and which meridians and
adjustments need to addressed.
